This creamy, tropical nice cream smoothie bowl is full of sweet, slightly tart fresh mango flavor! It’s super easy to make for a quick snack, layer over yogurt for breakfast, or any time you get a rumbly in your tumbly :). Base Smoothie Recipe adapted from Downshiftology
Ingredients: (serves 3)
Smoothie:
1 ½ cups each (fresh or frozen) mango, pineapple, and banana*
1 cup milk of choice (I used toasted coconut almond milk)
Yellow natural liquid food coloring or a pinch of turmeric powder
Winnie the Pooh Toppings:
Dark or milk chocolate
1 Fresh mango
Circle cookie cutter
Piping bag/bottle
*I find that fresh mango adds a lot more vibrance and flavor vs frozen, but you will want the bananas frozen for texture, and so that they don’t overpower the other ingredients.
Directions:
- The chocolate details can be created the night before by slowly melting chocolate chips until smooth, and then transferring to a piping bag or bottle once cooled to room temperature. You can then pipe the designs onto wax paper and allow them to set. I like to draw the design first on computer paper and place the drawings under the wax paper as a guide.
- Add the milk to the blender a little at a time, and blend with the fruit until everything is combined (I like mine thicker, like soft serve ice cream, so I start with ½ cup milk, and sometimes don’t use all of it).
- To turn the smoothie into Pooh, you can use a medium/large size circle cookie cutter to cut the ears out of fresh mango and place on both sides of the bowl. The chocolate details can be created the night before by slowly melting chocolate chips until smooth, and then transferring to a heat proof piping bag or bottle.
